May-June 2012. URUMQI, CHINA

A Xinjiang Dance

One of the many dances by the local Xinjiang dance troupe in Quanjude Hotel. This hotel is owned by the same famous Quanjude Beijing Kaoya Restaurant which serves the painfully expensive Beijing Roast Duck in Wangfujing Road.

We had our Quanjude roast duck here and the price is half of that in Beijing, considering that the ducks were flown from Beijing to here. Maybe the ducks flew here themselves, and that's why it is cheaper here. Anyway, the cost of living here is much lower than in Beijing, and I guess this may explain in some small part the cheaper roast ducks in Urumqi.

We had this fella carving up the ducks for us, and he is quite good in it too as you can see from the picture that follows

Yummy... as the Hokkiens say "lau nuo liao ar". I know you are dying to ask how much the roast duck cost. Well... it's only CNY128 per whole duck, and the taste? Allow me to quote from one of the credit card ad:...... "Priceless"
